Akhila Kovvuri

Student Programs Intern

Akhila Kovvuri is an ’18 from Hyderabad, India. She is majoring in Economics, with a focus on development economics. She has been involved with various Dickey Center programs such as the Great Issues Scholars program, International Development Forum and World Outlook, Dartmouth’s Journal of International Affairs. She has spent terms studying environmental studies in southern Africa and economics at the University of Oxford. Akhila is passionate about analyzing urban poverty, micro-entrepreneurship and financial inclusion through a gendered lens. She has delved into these topics during her off-terms, working for an NGO promoting female job and microenterprise participation in Kosovo, as a field research assistant on a female household bargaining power and financial inclusion project in India and as an intern working on early childhood development in Ghana. She is interested in pursuing development research to contribute to evidence-based policymaking.
